LIFE'S A BEACH

CELEBRATING A LIFE BY THE SEASIDE
Lucky Louie Fish Shack is Kathy’s homage to her childhood spent fishing, crabbing and digging clams with her uncle every spring, summer and fall. Lucky Louie is the name of the fishing lure they used on those trips and it’s likeness is displayed as a huge sculpture on the exterior of the restaurant. BSR collaborated with Kathy Casey’s executive team and the airport to develop all aspects of this concept including the brand identity and story, interior and exterior restaurant design, and store branding and the architecture.

A SPECIAL RESTAURANT DESIGN
BSR designed a lot of the clients personality and beliefs into Lucky Louie Fish Shack. The most notable element is the custom plaid wall tile actually created using a vintage Pendleton pattern from a jacket owned by Kathy. The main kitchen wall also displays the saying; “today is my lucky day” a quote uttered by her favorite uncle at the beginning of every one of their adventures together. Other aspects of the design speak to Kathy’s beliefs in sustainability and being a conscientious steward of the environment. The
counterfronts and fixtures are constructed from timbers reclaimed from the Mt. St. Helens eruption. The hot rolled steel used throughout the build was manufactured locally. The lighting and all of other systems are green. Even the clapboards used in the construction of the exterior are reclaimed cedar cut-offs that have been finger jointed and joined together to make usable siding.
